Story writing is the most fun I’ve ever had, apart from very little else. It provides me with a reason to allow my mind to wander. It gives me permission to dream. It brings closure to some of my craziest thoughts.
Imagine getting the story line in your head that the world could be invaded by intelligent alien flowers! The story idea seems ridiculous yet there are so many billions of stars out there with even more billions of planets, each quite likely with intelligent life forms not necessarily at all like us here on Earth, so why not?
So I wrote ‘In THEIR eyes YOU are just compost - flowers from outer or inner space - a short flash science fiction (Sci-fi) story by Rob Hopcott‘. It got the idea down so I could move on and dream some more. The story writing freed my mind.
A few years ago, I retired - for two months. By which time, I had all these story writing ideas jostling around in my head desperate to be released so, in the end, I just had to give in and carry on with my story writing.
